Mac Button
I have seen thousands of Mac Buttons tutorials out there. Unfortunately, there
are very few that really has the look and feel of the real Apple Mac buttons.
Being a perfectionist, I tried to make my own Mac Button. After like twenty
different tests, I finally came to one that looks very similar to the one on
the Apple site and that is what I am happily going to share with you guys.
1. Open a new file (200 x 200), File > new or (Ctrl+N) and create a (90
x 40) rectangle (U), and give it the value 1 for Rectangle roundness. Now create
another rectangle (100 x 50 pixels) and place it as shown below.

2. Select both rectangles (Ctrl+A) or click on the first rectangle and then
click on the other rectangle while pressing on the Shift key. When done, go
to Modify > Combine Paths and choose Punch. You will now have something
like the image below.

3. Lets give it an Inner Glow from the live filters that is found in the properties
box. Click on the Plus sign and select Shadow and Glow > Inner Glow and
give it the values shown below.

4. Create an Outer Glow also from the live filters. Click the Plus sign and
select Shadow and Glow > Outer Glow and give it the values shown below.

You should now have something looking like the image below.

5. Lets give the button a linear look. Select Linear from the Fill Category.
Click on the colored box left to the Fill Categorey and choose #cacaca for
the left pointer and #ffffff for the right placing the pointers as the image
shown below.

6. Place the Linear as shown in the image below.

You buttom would now look like the image shown below.

7. Select the button and duplicate it (Ctrl+Alt+D) or Edit > Duplicate.
Remove the Inner Glow and Outer Glow in the Live Filters box. Select them one
by one and click on the Minus sign just above the box. Now lets Punch the Duplicated
button to look like the image below, using the Punch technique explained in
description 1 and 2 above. Select the rectangle that you just punched and resize
it (Ctrl+Alt+T). Reduce the width by 4 pixels and click OK. See image below
for the result.

8. Lets give the white area a Linear look and feel. Select Linear from the
Fill Category. Click on the colored box left to the Fill Categorey and choose
#e1e1e1 for the left pointer and #ffffff. Leave the pointers as it is. Don't
move them. Place the linear as shown below.

9. Lets now add a white shade to the bottom of the button. Draw a shape similar
to the on the image shown below.
![]()
10. Place it at the bottom of the button as shown below and give it a Feather
with 2 as the value (Properties box > Edge > Feather).

11. Add some text and you're done. I added the Apple logo to make it more
attractive.
